Flower essences are subtle yet powerful vibrational medicines that work at an emotional and spiritual level to help shift deep or long-held patterns. They are made by infusing the vibrational essence of the flower into pure spring water.
I make personalized flower essences for a client by communing with nature and asking the flowers which ones want to help this person in their healing. It is often a blend of a few different flowers. I always ask the plant for permission to take the flowers, and always offer my gratitude. I prepare the essences with great care in a sacred manner, only when conditions are right and I am completely present in the process, infusing love as I work. I then ask the flowers what they are for to relay to the client. The essences are usually taken orally. They can also be dropped into a bottle of water to sip throughout the day, or even put in a spray bottle and sprayed on yourself or your environment. They are taken until the bottle is finished. Bali Flower Essences are prepared with fresh picked wild flowers, natural spring water, holy water, and a small amount of grain alcohol for preservation. They can also be prepared without the alcohol for the alcohol sensitive. I am currently creating a line of stock Bali Flower Essences, for such issues as self love, finding your soul purpose, abundance, energetic clearing, passion, and others. Flowers are an integral part of everyday life in Bali, not only for decoration, but more importantly as constant offerings to the divine. They make up the essence of the colorful offerings that are presented to the Gods daily. Offered in little woven bamboo baskets with prayers and the sweet smell of incense, they are perched on every doorstep and throughout homes and businesses.
Flowers, along with special prayers and mantras, infuse the tirta or holy water that is used for blessing and spiritual cleansing, an essential part of Balinese life. This Tirta or holy water used ubiquitously in Balinese ceremonies is like a flower essence, the flowers are chosen for their colors and what they represent. Balinese Hinduism is sometimes called the “religion of the tirta”. In temple ceremonies, different colored flowers are offered for each prayer, whether to Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, or Surya. You often see Balinese men or women, with a flower tucked behind their ear, a sign that they have just finished their prayers. Certain flowers are believed to have magical properties, for example a line of frangipani flowers scattered across your doors and windowsills is said to protect your house from leyaks, or shape-shifting witches. I personally find their intoxicating scent bewitching! |
